Our History
BWC is very proud of its fourteen-year history because ours is truly a success story. Russell Taylor, our president, began work in the flooring industry as a linoleum installer in 1968. After over two decades in the business, he decided to open his own company which would concentrate on the supply and installation of flooring to the residential home builder. This was in 1992. Russell hired one employee, Kenny Wagster, and took office space in a rundown warehouse building near downtown Columbia. After fourteen years of hard and smart work, Builders Wholesale Carpet is now doing 30 percent of the new home flooring in South Carolina, with a total of 8000 homes completed in 2005 alone. How this all happened is our history - a history of concentration on one market, of advancing as rapidly as possible in our use of new technology and methodology, of expansion to new locales along with our customers, and of trusting in the value of improving our performance. We have believed in doing a better job - with every job we do. That has been our history; it has worked for us and our customers. We plan to keep it that way.
