Management Team
Leadership is always a prime factor in company success. In this arena, our management team is second to none. Together they represent almost 200 combined years of experience at all levels of the flooring industry. Along with this experience goes a constantly-affirmed management vision - a very practical vision. BWC's management team believes in searching out and using advanced technology, in analyzing and improving operations on a continuous basis, and in offering state-of-the-art employee training programs to keep services at the highest possible professional level.
"We not only want to do things right; we want to do them best." This is the message from our president and founder, Russell Taylor, and he means it. One of BWC's early management aims was to hire outstanding employees who could meet this goal. Russell's first employee back in 1992 was Kenny Wagster, today a regional manager.
"I'm not the story here, " Russell adds. "Our employees are." An approach which Russell has instilled in management has been to maintain the open communication, teamwork, and camaraderie of a smaller, family operation. Our management team believes in retaining superior employees by treating them well.
Another management goal is retention of customers. This is just one way that Moe Dunn, our corporate sales manager, has helped BWC to become an industry leader. Moe also develops new customer relationships, works with our valued suppliers, attends trade shows to discover new quality products, and still finds time to serve on the Advisory Council of FloorExpo, the premier nationally-recognized organization of new-home flooring contractors.
Bob Lewis, our executive vice-president, began his career with BWC in 1996. He joined the management team as a CPA with a background in the construction industry. Bob is our company specialist in organization and in the refinement of all business practices. He has restructured accounting processes and led the team to last year's huge increase in revenue.
"The way we deal with difficult situations is what separates BWC from the competition," says Bob.
Russell, Moe, Bob, regional manager Kenny Wagster, and branch managers Jim Petersen, Sara Millhouse and Harry Plappert are all strong believers in partnering with builder customers to assure that their business will succeed and that the process will be easier and more satisfying because of their relationship with BWC.
Our management team works hard to excel, whether in dealing with the practicalities of hiring, following sales leads, assuring customer retention, or in organizing for expansion and increased profitability. For the customer, this means professional performance on the job, cost effectiveness, and superior quality of product.
